Jonny Ruiz

Jonny graduated from the University of Nottingham in June 2018. In July, he joined our internship program where he developed his skills in anaesthesia, advanced imaging and inpatient care. Upon completing his internship, he joined the ambulatory team at OVH Equine where he has enjoyed treating horses out on the road.

Jonny's main interests lie in surgery and lameness and he hopes to develop these skills to complete a residency in large animal surgery in the near future. During his time as an assistant he has furthered these skills, in addition to gaining more experience with advanced imaging. 

In his spare time Jonny enjoys playing hockey where before, and during his time at university, he represented and captained his country at multiple international competitions. He has continued this passion and still plays at the university at weekends. In addition to this, he is refining his skills on the back of a horse and hopefully you might see him on the eventing circuit sometime in the years to come! Jonny lives in Oakham with his girlfriend Vicky, and their two dogs, Darcy and Nessa who they enjoy walking in their time away from work.
