Emma graduated from the Royal Vet College in 1999 and after an internship at the RVC worked here at the Oakham Veterinary Hospital for 3 years. She left in 2003 to undertake a residency in Equine Internal Medicine and Critical Care at the Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Centre in Virginia, USA. During this time she gained her Diploma in Large Animal Internal Medicine and a Masters Degree studying sick new born foals in the first few weeks of life. After returning from the US she worked in private practice in Sussex and at the RVC as a lecturer in Equine Medicine, before coming back to Oakham, accompanied by her Labrador, Enzo. 

Emma is a clinical assistant professor with the University of Nottingham Vet School and is responsible for teaching students in their final year, helping to prepare them for life as a practising veterinary surgeon.

Her special interests include stomach ulcers, critical care and she has experience in dealing with over 500 sick foals with varying complaints.  Emma works at Oakham on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Oustide of work she is married to husband Rob and has two daughters named Holly and Eva.
