Oakham Veterinary Hospital is equipped with 2 theatres and a large surgical prep area. One theatre is for sterile surgery such as orthopaedic, ophthalmic and soft tissue surgery, the other is for ‘dirty’ procedures such as dentistry and enemas.
The prep area is where animals are anaesthetised and prepared for operations in theatre. Blood samples and minor procedures are also carried out here.
If the operation involves sedation or general anaesthetic we take great care to prevent problems and allow rapid recovery with minimum side effects. There will always be a dedicated nurse and veterinary surgeon to look after your pet whilst under anaesthesia.
