William BevinWilliam Bevin

BVetMed MRCVS
William qualified in 1978. After eighteen months in mixed practice in Cambridgeshire, he came to Oakham in 1979 as a general assistant with special responsibility for the agricultural side of the practice.
William became a partner in 1986. His involvement in equine work increased rapidly, including extensive experience of stud medicine and back up equine surgeon. William retains a vigorous involvement in farm practice.


Neal AshtonNeal Ashton

Neal Ashton BVet Med Cert EP Cert ES (soft tissue) MRCVS
Neal graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 1991. He worked in mixed practice in Newcastle, developing interests in small animal surgery and equine yard work. He subsequently moved to an equine practice in Kent and then Sussex, progressively developing an interest in all aspects of equine surgery. Neal gained his certificate in equine practice in 1996.
In 1997 he joined Gibsons Veterinary Hospital in Oakham as principal surgeon. He gained his certificate in soft tissue surgery in 1999. He is currently a partner at Oakham Veterinary Hospital, working primarily in-house with a large first and second opinion surgical and medical caseload, he is also involved in local
competition yard work.
His main areas of clinical interest lie in general surgery and lameness. Having worked with Martin Deacon, Oakham Veterinary Hospital's in house remedial farrier for five years, on a population ranging from top competition horses to scruffy ponies, he has developed vast experience in the field of foot lameness.


Alex KnottAlex Knott

MA VetMB MRCVS

Alex qualified from Cambridge in 2004. After qualifying he joined an equine practice in Huntingdon where he worked until joining Oakham in June 2007 becoming a partner in 2009. Alex has a particular interest in equine reproduction and is heading the fertility and stud services offered by Oakham Veterinary Hospital. Having competed in a number of equine disciplines himself, he is also very interested in all aspects of competition work.


Till HoermannTill Hoermann

Dr MedVet MRCVS
Till graduated in 2004 from the University of Leipzig, Germany.
He has worked in a specialist equine orthopaedic hospital in Germany in a predominantly ambulatory role. Since then he has worked as a locum veterinary surgeon in equine practices in England.
Till has experience in all aspects of equine medicine but has a particular interest in orthopaedics and sports medicine.

He has competed from an early age in dressage up to M/B and M/A level in Germany.Till is mainly ambulatory and is based in Lincolnshire, this enables us to provide a more efficient service for those clients based in that area. He can also be seen in our hospital on a regular basis.


Emma MitchellEmma Mitchell

BVetMed DipACVIM Cert VA MRCVS
Emma graduated from the Royal Vet College in 1999 and after an internship at the RVC worked here at the Oakham Veterinary Hospital for 3 years. She left in 2003 to undertake a residency in Equine Internal Medicine and Critical Care at the Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Centre in Virginia, USA. During this time she gained her Diploma in Large Animal Internal Medicine and a Masters Degree studying sick new born foals in the first few weeks of life. After returning from the US she worked in private practice in Sussex and at the RVC as a lecturer in Equine Medicine, before coming back to Oakham, accompanied by her Labrador, Enzo.

Her special interests include stomach ulcers, critical care, and she has experience in dealing with over 500 sick foals with varying complaints.


Ben AnghileriBen Anghileri

BVetMed MRCVS

Ben graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2002. He worked for 4 years in mixed practice in Lincolnshire; enjoying the small animal surgery and gradually building up the Equine side of the practice. He joined the team in Jan 2008 after spending a year travelling the world and working in Australia. Ben enjoys most aspects of equine work but is particularly interested in foot lameness and diagnostic imaging and currently runs both our MRI and Scintigraphy units.

 


 

Francesca HawkinsFrancesca Hawkins

BVetMed MRCVS

Francesca graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2004.  She then spent a year in mixed practice before joining Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic in Kent.  Francesca spent a year working in this busy hospital as an intern which involved working up emergencies, anaesthesia, inpatient care, stud work and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as well as routine first opinion practice.  After completing the internship she remained at Bell Equine for a further two and a half years as part of the ambulatory team.  At the end of 2008 Francesca went to Australia to do some more intensive stud work on large thoroughbred farms in Queensland.  She joined Oakham Veterinary Hospital at the start of May 2009 and is currently studying for her Equine Internal Medicine Certificate.
