William qualified in 1978. After eighteen months in mixed practice in Cambridgeshire, he came to Oakham in 1979 as a general assistant with special responsibility for the agricultural side of the practice.

William became a partner in 1986. His involvement in equine work increased rapidly, gaining extensive experience of thoroughbred stud medicine and back up equine surgeon. William retains a vigorous involvement in farm practice.

William and his wife Louise, farm 100 acres of grassland which supports a flock of commerical ewes, a herd of pedigree hereford cattle and a number of horses. The horses are used for hunting and point-to-pointing in which their son Rory is currently enjoying some success.
